As much as I’m into skincare, I’m as equally into makeup. It’s my hobby, my pastime, and walking through the aisles at Ulta is my happy place 🙂 I’ve always been a sucker for a new lipstick or eyeshadow palette, and finding a new amazing product at CVS or Target is the best! I have a collection of more than 100 lip products (lipsticks being my favorite), eyeshadow and eyeshadow palettes are a close second, and makeup brushes are my third love. No one is surprised that at Christmas or my birthday the main thing I ask for is makeup… my mom totally gets it, I get my addiction from her. Now I don’t have as much as some beauty gurus do, I’ve been trying to keep my collection slimmed down lately, so I’ve only been keeping keep what I really use. I still have a lot of makeup though… more than the average, and I’m totally ok with that! So here’s a list of a few of my tried and true makeup products that have never failed me… here we go:
My favorite foundation is the It Cosmetics CC+ cream, I wear ‘Light’ in the winter and ‘Medium’ in the summer. This is a really popular product for a reason. It’s my all-in-one: anti-aging serum, light hydration, SPF 50 and medium coverage foundation. Love it!
Because I’m oily, I do like to top this off with a powder, and get a little extra coverage, by using the It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination. It’s what I use as my ‘concealer’ since my skin is SO oily, I have never found a concealer that doesn’t get creasy and greasy by noon, and this works great! I wear the color ‘Light’ year round.
The bronzer I have been using for years, because it has such a great natural warmth to it and doesn’t break me out, is the Laura Geller Bronze and Brighten in ‘Medium’. Its a baked product and is swirled with pink and nude to make a very natural, warm tone. I love this bronzer and have probably go through 4 or 5 over the years (and these last forever btw!).
My never fail me blush is also from Laura Geller, and is also a baked product. Her baked blush in Pink Grapefruit is my favorite! It’s warm, yet neutral, and has a glow that looks like you have highlighter on the apples of your cheeks… so pretty!
I have 2 loves when it comes to eyeshadow palettes: the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and the Kat Von D Shade and Light eye palette. These 2 always give me looks I’m super happy with and they are highly pigmented and last all day. I also swear by the Urban Decay primer, I have super oily lids and it makes my shadow budge proof all day.
I mainly use liquid liner, it just stays so much better than pencil liners for me. My favorite (and a total dupe for the Kat Von D tattoo liner) is the the Physicians Formula Eye Booster in either Ultra Black or Brown. This makes a really clean line and a great wing 🙂
I have 2 loves when it comes to mascara: It Cosmetics Superhero and the Cover Girl Super Sizer. Now, a warning when it comes to the Superhero mascara, its clumpy… and only continues to get more clumpy as time goes on. But it will literally make it look like you have on false lashes (to be fair, I do have pretty decent lashes), but it does build very well and gives a bold look in 2 coats. The Cover Girl Super Sizer is literally the drugstore option of the Superhero mascara. It builds very well, and I can do about 4 coats and it only gets darker, not more clumpy.
Now… I have a LOT of lipstick loves. These are my 3 go-to’s that work with any and all makeup looks. Revlon Super lustrous in 460-Blushing Mauve, more of a neutral pinky mauve. It’s my signature color, I always have about 3 tubes of this on hand, and I’ve probably gone through 6-7 tubes of this over the years. The next is from Rimmel, from the Kate Moss collection in ’08’. It’s more of a brown/nude/neutral color, and has such a great finish. The final is like sweatpants, SO comfy, so user friendly and super warm/neutral, the Burts Bees lipstick in Blush Basin. I wear this a lot on weekends when I do an easy, natural look.
Now granted, I have a LOT more makeup, but these are my tried and true favorites. I watch a lot of YouTube, and some of these products pop up all over the place, and for good reason. They work, they’re beautiful, they last, and they’ve never failed me. I like mid-priced makeup, and I SO prefer drugstore lipsticks, I have just never found a high-end lipstick that I felt was worth the price (and I’ve tried A LOT of them!). I hope this offers a few fun suggestions, thanks for reading and sharing my love of makeup!
